Beverly Woods has been passionately devoted to music since early childhood, beginning piano studies at the age of five. Beverly has performed professionally since 1972, cultivating an impressively eclectic collection of acoustic instruments that Beverly plays with virtuosity and deep expression.
A true multi-instrumentalist, Beverly sings and performs on hammered dulcimer, tsimbl, piano, organ and keyboards, and many more. In addition to Beverly’s solo work, Beverly is a founding member of the String Equinox duo with Shana Aisenberg.
For many years, Beverly has been a beloved street performer throughout Boston and New England. Beverly also composes and provides music for films, multimedia presentations, festivals, and events of all kinds. Together with Shana, Beverly calls square dances and contradances and performs for international folk dances.
Beverly has released numerous recordings, most recently the String Equinox albums Anyone’s Guess, House On The Corner, and New Moon—a trilogy of original instrumental compositions. Beverly has studied movement, voice, and improvisation with masters including Emilie Conrad, Meredith Monk, Jean-Claude van Itallie, and Jonathan Hart Makwaia. Beverly’s recent projects include the one-person show In Emergency Break Glass.
