Some farms grow vegetables. Others raise livestock. At Spirit Brook Farm, the focus is on something a little different—medicinal herbs that have supported health and wellness for generations.

Based in Limington, Maine, Spirit Brook Farm is a small regenerative herb farm dedicated to growing high-quality medicinal plants for teas, tinctures, dried herbs, and handcrafted herbal salves. Every plant is grown without sprays using no-till farming practices that prioritize healthy soil and thriving ecosystems.

Owner and herbal grower, Jenna Cote, brings a unique blend of horticultural knowledge and customer experience to the farm. After studying horticulture in college and spending years in retail management, she realized her true calling wasn’t inside a store—it was in the fields. Farming had always been the dream, and an herb farm offered the opportunity to build something meaningful one season at a time.

Today, the farm specializes in perennial medicinal herbs such as echinacea, along with annual favorites including calendula and basil. While most of the current harvest comes from leafy herbs grown above ground, exciting plans are underway to expand into medicinal roots like ashwagandha, marshmallow root, and echinacea root. These roots will eventually become dried herbal ingredients for teas and other wellness products.

Visitors to the Tamworth Farmers’ Market may already know Spirit Brook Farm for their thoughtfully crafted herbal teas. Among the favorites is their signature Blueberry Moon Tea, a comforting blend featuring dried blueberries grown right on the farm. Other customer favorites include lemon balm and nettle—two approachable herbs prized for both their gentle flavor and nourishing qualities.

What truly sets Spirit Brook Farm apart is its philosophy of working with nature rather than trying to control it.

Instead of forcing the land to fit a plan, the farm listens carefully to what the landscape wants to grow. Healthy farming, she believes, begins with a reciprocal relationship between people, plants, and soil. By healing the land, observing carefully, and allowing the strongest plants to flourish, the farm continually discovers what thrives naturally. It’s an approach rooted in patience, curiosity, and respect—one that results in healthier plants and a healthier ecosystem.

That same spirit extends to the community. Since joining the Tamworth Farmers’ Market in the fall of last year, the market has become much more than a place to sell herbs. One of her favorite memories is watching the annual Children’s Parade—especially the unforgettable appearance of Gabby the Goose, a moment that perfectly captures the welcoming, joyful atmosphere that makes the market so special.

Whether you’re looking for a soothing cup of herbal tea, nourishing dried herbs, or simply want to learn more about the healing plants that grow in New England, Spirit Brook Farm offers products rooted in thoughtful stewardship of both the land and the people it serves.
